What:  The Desert Island Comics Party
When:  Friday, June 6, 2008, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Where:  Desert Island, 540 Metropolitan Ave (btwn Union and Lorimer)
Why:  Comic and Graphic Novel book-release extravaganza

To ramp up for the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art’s annual festival, Desert Island is pleased to host a book-release Comics Party on Friday, June 6, 2008.  The publishers Secret Acres, Bodega Books, and Sparkplug Comics will be celebrating the release of a whopping total of SIX books - all available for the first time at this event, and all authors will autograph their work.  We couldn’t be more excited to kick off MOCCA 2008 with this not be missed pre-show bash!

New releases include:
--Windy Corner #2 by Austin English (Sparkplug Comics)
-- Hot Breath of War by Trevor Alixopulos (Sparkplug Comics)
-- Inkweed by Chris Wright (Sparkplug Comics)
-- Neverland by Dave Kiersh (Bodega)
-- Wormdye by Eamon Espey (Secret Acres)
-- Fatal Faux Pas by Sam Gaskin (Secret Acres). 

These works offer something for every corner of the comics and literary universe – from tales of a survivalist extended family living on an island, to coming-of-age love stories, to the earliest memory of young boy, these new releases will delight long-time comics fans and newbies to the medium alike.

Desert Island will also display original artwork for sale by the artists, and complimentary beer will be served for the duration of the event.  So come one, come all to THE Mocca Arts Festival 2008 pre-party!  We look forward to seeing you there.
